The ESRB, an organisation that evaluates and assigns age ratings to video games, has published more information about Assassin's Creed Mirage, where we learned a little more about the game's plot and the rating it received.

Here's What We Know

The article contains spoilers about the plot of Assassin's Creed Mirage

Assassin's Creed Mirage has been rated Mature 17+ (playable from the age of 17). The website states that the game contains blood, death, references to drugs, intense violence, and profanity.

And now the most interesting part. At the same time, the ESRB accidentally revealed one important plot element of the game. The description on the website states: "Players use weapons to kill soldiers, fellow assassins, and bosses in frantic melee combat. Fights are accompanied by screams of pain and frequent blood splatter effects. The footage also depicts instances of violence: a bound prisoner is slowly stabbed in the chest; a victim is killed by hanging. The words f**k and sh*t appear in the game."

Now we know that the next Assassin's Creed is definitely not "family friendly", but we also know that Basim, the main character of Mirage, will kill other assassins. That is, he could theoretically betray his order and choose a different path. Another game where the hero purposefully killed assassins was Assassin's Creed Rogue. Perhaps Ubisoft has decided to finally return to the features of the old parts of the series?

When We Can Expect It

Assassin's Creed Mirage is scheduled for release on 12 October 2023 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
