Rumour: the protagonist of Assassin's Creed: Codename Red will be an African Samurai. For the first time in the franchise the main character will be a real historical character
Some time ago insider Tom Henderson said that in Assassin's Creed: Codename Red, which will be set in feudal Japan, there will be two main characters - a female samurai and an African shinobi.
However, the sources of Dexerto portal slightly corrected Henderson's information.
Here's What We Know
As Dexerto has learnt, an African man will indeed be the protagonist of Ubisoft's new game, but he will not be a shinobi, but a samurai. It seems that the French company decided to make the central character a real historical figure for the first time.
If the information is true, the protagonist of Assassin's Creed: Codename Red will be Yasuke, the first samurai of African descent and the first dark-skinned person to be named a samurai in Japan.
According to open sources, Yasuke was born in Mozambique and as a servant of Italian Jesuit missionary Alessandro Valignano in 1579 ended up in the Land of the Rising Sun.
Recall, Ubisoft has not yet disclosed information about Assassin's Creed: Codename Red, so it is difficult to judge how much information is true.
When We Can Expect It
It is believed that Assassin's Creed: Codename Red will be released in 2024.
