A monkey playing Minecraft - and it's no joke! A stunning video of a chimpanzee's gameplay has been published

Blogger ChrisDaCow, in collaboration with research organisation Ape Initiative, conducted a unique experiment.

Here's What We Know

Kanzi is a bonobo chimpanzee whose population is on the verge of extinction. To draw public attention to this problem, blogger .... taught the animal to play Minecraft!

And, if at the beginning of the process the monkey was prompted to the right actions, motivating Kanzi with nuts and apples, then over time the animal adapted perfectly and was able to build a large settlement in Minecraft almost without human help.

To train Kanzi used a special touch screen and some programmes to simplify the technical side of the process.

Progress in Minecraft appeared gradually: first the monkey learnt to move the character, then to hit with a pickaxe, and later it came to the construction of buildings and cave exploration.

Surprisingly, the animal showed emotions both at successful actions and at mistakes. You could see that Kanzi enjoyed the gameplay.
