Texas coffers will be boosted by $8 million thanks to Google. The US company has been fined over unfair advertising for its Pixel 4 smartphone.

Here's What We Know

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has announced that the California-based company has agreed to settle the charges by paying $8 million, an amount that Google was stripped of due to the fact that it had hired DJs to promote the Pixel 4, but did not provide them with the devices. Thus, they advertised a smartphone with which they were not familiar with the functionality.

Ken Paxton said that Texas would do everything possible to protect the people and the economy of the state from ads that could mislead people. Google, for its part, noted that it is responsible for compliance with advertising laws.
