Following the Honor Magic 5 Pro, the regular Magic 5 was unveiled at MWC 2023. It has a few differences and costs a bit less.

Here's What We Know

The Honor Magic 5 borrows the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip from the Pro version, a 5100mAh battery with 66W and 50W fast charging, stereo speakers, and a full suite of both wired and wireless interfaces. The model also runs Android 13 and Magic UI 7.1.

The first difference is the screen. It is based on a more modest OLED matrix. It has a frame rate of 120Hz, a 6.73" diagonal, a resolution of 1224 x 2688 pixels and HDR10+ support. Underneath the display is an optical rather than ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. No IP68 protection is provided.

The front camera has lost the ToF 3D sensor, but retains the 32 MP module. In the main camera 50 MP module was replaced by 54 MP and removed the optical stabilization. The telephoto lens has been reduced from 50MP to 32MP, while the zoom ratio has dropped from 3.5x to 2.5x. The ultra-wide-angle camera hasn't changed.

Price & When We Can Expect It

The Honor Magic 5 will go on sale along with the Pro version in the second quarter of 2023, but will be available in a variant with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Customers will only be offered a choice of blue and black body colours. The smartphone has been priced at $950 / $950 / £795.
