Huawei Mate X3 - Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, up to 1TB of storage, XMAGE camera, two 120Hz OLED screens, IPX8 and a new hinge, priced from $1900

From now on there is one more bendable smartphone in the world. Huawei has announced the flagship Mate X3 with an updated design and flagship hardware.

Here's What We Know

Like the other Mate X models, the newcomer has a booklet form factor. The internal screen is based on a 7.85" OLED panel with a resolution of 2496 x 2224 dots. The manufacturer claims ultra-high shock resistance. The refresh rate is 120Hz.

Half of the back side of the case in the Huawei Mate X3 is occupied by an additional display. It too is based on a 120Hz OLED panel. However, the diagonal is reduced to 6.4" and the resolution is 2504 x 1080 pixels. The back side is protected by Kunlun glass.

According to the manufacturer, the Huawei Mate X3 has IPX8 water protection. All dimensions are not specified, but it is stated that the body is 5.3 mm thick when unfolded. The novelty weighs 239 g. The new hinge allows the display to be fixed at any angle.

The smartphone is equipped with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip without 5G support. The single-chip system runs at 3.19GHz, Adreno 730 graphics and is paired with 12GB of RAM. Storage capacity is 256GB, 512GB or 1TB depending on the bundle.

The Huawei Mate X3 has five cameras. There's one 8 MP module in each of the screens. The large round unit on the back contains a 50 MP main module (Sony IMX766) with OIS, a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle (Sony IMX688) and a 12 MP telephoto lens (Sony IMX688) with 5x optical zoom. The smartphone boasts an Ultra-sensing XMAGE imaging system.

The flagship runs on the HarmonyOS 3.1 operating system. The battery capacity was 4,800mAh and the fast charging power was 66W. The smartphone also got Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, NFC, stereo speakers and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Price & When We Can Expect It

The Huawei Mate X3 will go on sale on April 7, 2023 in black, silver, purple, green and gold body colours. The 256GB and 512GB versions cost $1900 and $2050 respectively. The 1TB variant is priced at $2345.
