Huawei has announced a new smartphone equipped with a bendable display. The model is called Mate X5, but is almost a copy of the Mate X3, released in the spring of the same year.

Here's What We Know

The first difference between the Huawei Mate X5 and the spring novelty is the processor. Instead of Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, the proprietary Kirin 9000s mobile platform is used. The same chip is installed in the Huawei Mate 60 and Mate 60 Pro.

The second difference is the battery. The capacity has been increased from 4800 mA*h to 5060 mA*h. Although it should be noted that the collector's edition of the Mate X3 is also equipped with a 5060 mA*h battery. In addition, the novelty right out of the box runs the HarmonyOS 4.0 operating system.

Huawei Mate X5 received an internal OLED display with a peak brightness of 1000 nits, a diagonal of 7.85", a resolution of 2496 x 2224 pixels and a frame refresh rate of 120 Hz. Notably, the top-end versions of the smartphone are equipped with an LTPO OLED panel with a peak brightness of 1800 nits.

The second screen too can be based on OLED and LTPO OLED matrices with different peak brightness. The diagonal is 6.4", the resolution is 2504 x 1080 pixels and the refresh rate ranges from 1Hz to 120Hz.

The Huawei Mate X5 gets five cameras at once. The main one has a resolution of 50 MP (RYYB) + 13 MP + 12 MP (5x zoom, OIS). For selfies, there are two 8 MP (f/2.4) modules, each of which supports 4K UHD.

The smartphone has 66W (wired) and 50W (wireless) fast charging, an in-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers and a set of all key interfaces except Mini-Jack. Water and dust protection is IPx8 compliant.

Huawei Mate X5 will go on sale in modifications 12/256 GB, 16/512 GB and 16/1024 GB. The cost is not yet specified. The smartphone is already available for pre-order in China. It will be sold in silver, black, gold, green and purple body colours.
