"Forgotten" action film starring Jason Momoa and Dave Batista has finally found its director - the iconic director from the world of DC is the one to do it
The long-awaited action film starring Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista, which seemed to be forgotten, has finally found its new director. It turned out to be an important figure from the DC film universe.
The Wrecking Crew is back on track, and David Leitch, the director of Deadpool 2, will reportedly no longer be helming the project as previously planned. We've learned that when Jason Momoa and Dave Batista return to shoot "The Wrecking Crew," a filmmaker working in the DC universe will be behind the camera.
Here's What We Know
This action film was originally announced back in 2021, with "Deadpool 2" director David Litch as director, but nothing has been heard about the project since.
Now, however, news outlet The Wrap is reporting that Ángel Manuel Soto, the director of "Blue Beetle" has taken over the project. When Litch was at the helm, filming was supposed to take place in Hawaii, but it remains to be seen if that location will remain with the new director.
When We Can Expect It
No filming start date has been announced yet. It will likely be some time before "The Wrecking Crew" moves forward given the current Writers Guild and Actors Guild strikes.
As some in the industry have suggested, the strikes could last until November. But Jason Momoa and Dave Batista will probably be busy with their existing projects first. Especially Momoa, who, after a spectacular debut in "Fast X," will soon reincarnate as Dante in "Fast & Furious 11," and has also been linked to projects like "Chief of War," "Animal Friends" and "Minecraft." Dave Batista, for his part, is set to star in "Groove Tails," "The Killer's Game" and "Universe's Most Wanted."
