The sensational trailer for the new apocalyptic thriller starring Saoirse Ronan and Paul Maskell combines the spirit of "Black Mirror" and "Interstellar"
The first trailer for the film Foe was released yesterday. Actors Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal have teamed up for the first time in the gripping thriller, and the new trailer, which has just been released, has you shivering with suspense. In this upcoming film, they star as a couple faced with a difficult choice, as if they've walked right into the plot of an episode of Black Mirror.
Here's What We Know
Ronan plays the role of Hen and Maskell embodies the character of Junior in the new film from Amazon Studios. The story begins with the unexpected appearance of a stranger at their door, who brings them an offer that could change their lives by sending Junior into space. Set in 2065 on a secluded farm, the uninvited guest named Terrence, embodied by Aaron Pierre, sets one condition: the real Junior will be replaced by an artificial replica that will stay on Earth with Hen.
The "Foe" trailer has already sparked parallels with other sci-fi masterpieces. One viewer noticed similarities to "Interstellar," alluding to Christopher Nolan's epic 2014 film in which a former NASA pilot must find a new planet for humanity after Earth becomes uninhabitable.
Others point out the striking similarities to season 6's "Black Mirror" and the episode "Beyond The Sea." In it, two astronauts transfer their consciousness into artificial replicas of their bodies on Earth.
The first footage certainly builds suspense and promises epic drama from director Garth Davis.
When We Can Expect It
The Foe movie will be released on 6 October 2023.
