Fasten your seatbelts and get ready for the impressive trailer for Ferrari: Adam Driver as Enzo Ferrari
The first trailer for Michael Mann's Ferrari is now available to watch.
"If you get into one of my cars, you get in to win", says former racing driver and current car empire owner Enzo Ferrari, played by Adam Driver, in the first footage from "Ferrari".
Here's What We Know
The film is based on Brock Yates' book "Enzo Ferrari: The Man and the Machine" and directed by Oscar nominee Michael Mann ("Heat," "The Insider"), features Penélope Cruz as Enzo's wife and chief financial officer Laura Ferrari; Shailene Woodley as his lover Lina Lardi; real-life racing driver Patrick Dempsey as Italian Formula One driver Piero Taruffi; and Gabriel Leone as hapless Spanish Formula One driver Alfonso de Portago.
The official description reads, "Summer 1957. Behind the scenes in Formula One, former racing driver Enzo Ferrari finds himself in crisis. Bankruptcy threatens the factory he and his wife Laura created from scratch ten years ago. Their unstable marriage is rocked by the loss of their son Dino a year earlier. Ferrari struggles to recognise his son Piero from Lina Lardi. Meanwhile, his drivers' passion to win pushes them to the brink as they embark on the most dangerous 1,000-mile race across Italy, the Milli Mile."
Director Michael Mann describes "Ferrari" as an "operatic melodramatic" film in which all roads lead to the fateful final Milli Mile race.
STX Films and distributor Neon - the independent film company behind Oscar-winning "Parasite" and Oscar-nominated "Triangle of Sadness" - are at the helm of "Ferrari," coming 30 years after Mann first conceived of the film adaptation of Yates' book "Enzo Ferrari: The Man and the Machine," which became the definitive biography of the engineer whose motorsport empire defined the world of high-performance cars.
"The origins of the movie and the content of the screenplay and the movie that you saw do not fit into the kind of film that would be embraced by the conventional studio system" Mann noted. "It's truly appropriate that it is an independent film being distributed by Neon, a very independent distributor."
When We Can Expect It
"Ferrari" is scheduled for release on December 25, 2023.
