The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes have paralysed all of Hollywood, and the endless postponements and delays of premieres have exhausted viewers. But it looks like fans will be able to enjoy the superhero genre to the fullest throughout 2024.

Here's What We Know

If the strikes continue into next year, Marvel, DC, and Sony risk going without new projects until 2025. Marvel's visual effects staff have only recently decided in favour of a union, and seem determined to get the best results from these studios. The good news is that some of the projects are already in the final stages of completion, so once an agreement is reached, they will be worked on at top speed. The studios will make every effort to compensate for delays.

Sony:

The first film on Sony's list for next year is Madame Web, supposedly due out in time for Valentine's Day. Not much is known about the film except that it's another villain from the spider world, and possibly has something to do with the web of doom and Spider-Verse. It's already been postponed twice, and there's no guarantee that Valentine's Day will be the final date.

Things are about the same with the third instalment of Venom. At this point, the film hasn't even been given a definitive title. Supposedly, we're supposed to see Tom Hardy merge with an alien symbiote on July 11, 2024. But, Sony has changed that decision more than once.

One hope for punctuality rests on Kraven the Hunter. For now, the date for the sixth film in Sony's Spider-Man Universe media franchise is most stable, set for 8 October 2024. There's a chance that by then the Hollywood strikers will have reached an agreement with the studios and film production will resume.

Marvel:

MCU is the clear leader in terms of the number of planned projects, however, as usual, though that doesn't guarantee stability in dates for those projects.

The studio will open 2024 with the premiere of Deadpool 3. Its date has already been postponed, but four months earlier. It's now scheduled to be shown on 3 May instead of its previous release in September, so that's good news.

Next on the list is "Captain America: Brave New World," which has been rescheduled for summer - July 26. But, work on the film is on pause for now, so it wouldn't be surprising if it gets pushed back again.

"Thunderbolts," everyone's favourite group of anti-heroes, has been pushed back five months and now comes out in December.

Marvel also has a large number of TV series planned for release in 2024, but none of them have exact dates. "Agatha: Coven of Chaos" has been rescheduled and renamed for the second time. According to reports, the series will now be called "Agatha: Darkhold Diaries" and will be released near the end of the year. Also expected are "Spider-Man: Freshman Year", "X-Men '97", "Marvel Zombies" and "Daredevil: Born Again".

DC Studios:

When James Gunn announced the upcoming reboot of the universe, 2024 seemed like a solid year for the studio, but postponements have affected them as well.

As of now, only "Joker: Folie á Deux" has a concrete date - October 4, 2024.

Other DC projects that were supposed to kick off the new DCU and come out this year are "Creature Commandos" and "Waller." But it's likely that both of them will be postponed. Matt Reeves' mini-series "The Penguin" was also slated for 2024 but now its fate is highly uncertain, the same goes for the second season of "Peacemaker".
