More elaborate torture: it's being reported that the Saw franchise isn't leaving us - developments are being made for new episodes after Saw X
"Saw" franchise producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules have revealed that they have plans to continue the terrifying series after the upcoming "Saw X".
Here's What We Know
The next instalment of the psychological thriller about serial killer John Kramer will hit screens later this month, but the project's creators are already preparing the ground for the story's sequel:
"We're kind of superstitious. We tend not to get too far ahead of ourselves. The movie's going to be released in a few days. For us, we do have ideas for the next one, we haven't put pen to paper. But this is his story, we really wanted it to be John Kramer's story and tell a John Kramer story. So, for the first 30 minutes of the movie, he's John Kramer, you don't have any hint of Jigsaw."
John Kramer, known as Jigsaw played by Tobin Bell, is of course a key figure in the franchise. His death in the third instalment of the film brought a lot of outrage among fans. The character has since appeared in flashbacks and recorded footage, but whether Kramer will appear after "Saw X" remains an open question.
While we don't know if we'll see Tobin Bell after Saw X, according to director Kevin Gratert, John Kramer won't be played by any other actor, but if he does, the bar will be set very high.
"It seems unlikely. You know, Mads Mikkelsen took over from Anthony Hopkins (in the role of Hannibal Lecter) and, you know, we'd need somebody on that level." the director said in an interview with Comicbook.
Here's What The Movie Is About
The action unfolds between "Saw I" and "Saw II," as a sick and desperate John travels to Mexico for a risky experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer. In the process, he discovers that the entire operation is a fraud designed to cheat the most vulnerable. Having found a new target, the serial killer returns to his work, turning the game on the crooks in his characteristically brutal way through devious, demented and sophisticated traps.
When We Can Expect It
"Saw X" will be released on September 29, 2023.
