A promising update on the release of House of the Dragon Season 2: HBO intends to bring fans back to Westeros as early as 2024

According to new information, which definitely pleases fans, the second season of the prequel "The Game of Thrones", will be released next year.

Variety has published information that the HBO series could appear on our screens "in the summer of 2024".

This is mainly due to the fact that filming is not affected by the strikes of the writers and actors - the scripts were already ready and filming in the UK was not under the jurisdiction of SAG-AFTRA.

It was previously reported that the second season would be shorter than the first and consist of eight episodes instead of ten. Director Clare Kilner explains this by saying that each episode will be so action-packed that eight episodes is enough for a full season:

"There are eight wonderful episodes with so much happening in every episode, and we have trouble, at times, bringing them down to one hour."

As a reminder, the sequel "House of the Dragon", tells the story of events that take place 200 years before the time of the original series and tells about the fall of House Targaryen and the civil war that threatens to destroy Westeros. Previously, we saw Raynera and Damon fighting against Alicent and her son Aegon II. Tensions rise after the death of Reynera's second son, Luceris, in an aerial battle with Alicent's son, Emond. Season 2 promises to reveal a story of revenge and a bloody son-for-son war.

With the cast strike ending, reports say HBO will also focus on producing new seasons of "The Last of Us," "Euphoria" and "The White Lotus" next year.
