"Fantastic Four" returns: The film's director Matt Shakman said he plans to start shooting in the spring of 2024
Fantastic Four director Matt Shakman has finally shared new information about the film, including a production start date.

With the writers' strike over and all agreements reached, the film industry has been stirring and many projects have moved forward. It looks like SAG-AFTRA is probably going to follow the lead of the writers, which will finally unleash the directors to produce films.
As of now, director Matt Shakman, in an interview with Collider, has already rubbed fans the wrong way with information about the start date of filming on one of the most anticipated projects in the MCU, "Fantastic Four."
"We are definitely gonna go in front of cameras next year. Probably the spring. [It will shoot in] London. Pinewood."
Also, the director mentioned that the "Fantastic Four" reboot will be unlike anything from Marvel.
"It's different in so many ways. I wish I could be specific." Shakman added. "I wish I could say more. But we are doing things very differently from a story standpoint, from an approach to the filmmaking standpoint, that really fits the material. I wish I could say more. I would love to, but I can't. But I think it's going to be unlike anything you've seen before, and certainly unlike anything at Marvel that you've seen before."
As for the casting of the actors, there is no exact information yet. Definitely, Shakman is already thinking about who will get the roles, but no contracts are being signed at the time of the strike. According to SAG-AFTRA rules, guild members must not sign any contracts during the strike, even if the work will be done after the strike is over.
"We're in the middle of a SAG strike, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they get a great deal really soon and we can go back." the production manager also told Collider. "Then, once that's resolved, there'll be a plan at that point, but I can't say too much. There will be an announcement at some point! I know that the internet is very excited to find out, and I'm excited to share it. I just can't do it yet."
When We Can Expect It
After several delays by Marvel Studios, the new Fantastic Four reboot is scheduled for May 2, 2025.
