Clash of the Titans won't happen: Warner Bros. has rejected a proposal for a Mortal Kombat vs. DC animated film
Screenwriter Jeremy Adams, who has worked on several Mortal Kombat and DC animated projects, has revealed that "Mortal Kombat vs. DC" had every chance to exist, but Warner Bros. rejected the idea.
Here's What We Know
The possibilities of DC and Mortal Kombat crossover are very real, especially considering the 2008 Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe game and the appearances of Mortal Kombat characters in the Injustice games. As such, merging the two giants into one film would be very promising, but Warner Bros. apparently doesn't see it that way.
This was revealed by Jeremy Adams in an interview with ComicBook:
"I would lower your expectations" - he stated about a possible crossover. - "I don't know if they have any plans to do more. I do know that we pitched that a while ago, but it was kind of rebuffed. Well, I think at the end of the day, I don't know if they're ever going to do any more. I hope they do, and I hope they call me to be involved. That would be great because I really love it. But I don't know. I don't know. I think it would be really cool though. Trust me, I would love to see a DC Mortal Kombat. That would be super, super cool."
Regarding both franchises' immediate plans: a sequel to 2021's live action Mortal Kombat is currently in development, while DC's films are undergoing significant changes before a new phase in their history - DCU Chapter One: "Gods and Monsters".
