The chairman of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, Joe Drake, announced at an investment conference that the studio plans to release the film in 2026.

Here's What We Know

The reboot of the 1986 cult film is being directed by Chad Stahelski, who previously admitted that he's been dreaming of making a Highlander reboot for years. The project was already in development before the strikes in Hollywood began, but for obvious reasons, production had to be halted.

Since the actors' strike only ended this week, it will take some time for the "Highlander" team to get back to full work on the project. In addition, Henry Cavill, who has been cast in the lead role, has also yet to coordinate free time in his schedule to immerse himself in the realisation of this iconic story.

Here's What The Movie Is About

The original 1986 film starring Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery and Clancy Brown explored a world in which immortals hunted each other in modern-day New York City, and the origins of these warriors went back centuries. This film became the basis for four sequels and inspired several television series, animated projects and comic books.

When We Can Expect It

Lionsgate Studios plans to release the film in 2026, although an exact date has not yet been confirmed.
