"The Witcher" author Andrzej Sapkowski claims Netflix "never listened" to his ideas

Polish fantasy writer Andrzej Sapkowski says the streaming platform has disregarded his suggestions for the show, which has been the subject of debate among fans due to deviations from the literary source material.

At Vienna Comic-Con last week, Sapkowski was asked if he gave feedback to Netflix, and with a grin he replied: "Maybe, I gave them some ideas, but they never listened to me. But it’s normal.."mimicked a Netflix executive and added dismissively: "Who’s this? It’s a writer, it’s nobody"

Netflix has not yet made any comment on the matter.

The main character in the series, Henry Cavill, is a huge fan of Sapkowski's books and has repeatedly emphasised the importance of being faithful to the source material.

Recall, Cavill left "The Witcher", but the reason for his departure remains a mystery. The actor was replaced in the fourth season by Liam Hemsworth.

Despite the inconsistency with the books, "The Witcher" remains very popular and boasts 99.4 million hours of viewing for season three, according to Nielsen, and a position in Netflix's Top 10 for eight weeks. However, viewership numbers are down 36 per cent compared to season two.
