"Godzilla Minus One" gets perfect reviews from critics and the highest possible score on Rotten Tomatoes, before being released worldwide

Here's What We Know

After a successful launch on screens in its native Japan on 3 November, "Godzilla Minus One" is set to head overseas.

Ahead of its world premiere next month, the film has received perfect scores on Rotten Tomatoes - according to Variety.

While IGN claims that it is "a rousing, spectacle-filled blockbuster, Godzilla: Minus One takes the king of the monsters back to his roots in post-WWII Japan. The story is character-driven, but the monster scenes are exciting and effective."

Screen International's review says the film "returns the titular beast to its roots as a metaphor for Japan’s postwar anxiety and grief, in the process delivering a stirring spectacle that also contains a palpable emotional undercurrent."

Here's What The Movie Is About

This new kaiju film from Japanese studio Toho, is set in post-war Japan. According to the film's official synopsis - Japan's economic state is reduced to zero. Godzilla appears and plunges the country into a negative state.

Directed by Takashi Yamazaki, the film follows a former kamikaze pilot suffering from survivor's guilt who finds himself in a battle with Godzilla along with the crew of his mine-clearing ship.

When We Can Expect It

"Godzilla Minus One" is due for release in the US on 1 December and in the UK on 15 December.
