In a fresh conversation with TV New Zealand, James Cameron, director of the Avatar franchise, shared an update on the status of Avatar 3 production, emphasising that the film is making steady progress and is in post-production.

Here's What We Know

We'll have to wait a while longer before the world of Pandora returns to the big screen, as Cameron confirms that the third instalment of the film will be released in December 2025.

"We're into a very hectic two years of post production right now, so it'll be Christmas of '25"," the director shared.

Most likely, after the release of the threequel, we can safely wait for the fourth part. It was initially announced that Avatar is to have up to five sequels, and Cameron has already indicated that he has worked through a lot of material for the upcoming "Avatar 4."

"I can't tell you the details, but all I can say is that when I turned in the script for 2, the studio gave me three pages of notes. And when I turned in the script for 3, they gave me a page of notes, so I was getting better. When I turned in the script for 4, the studio executive, creative executive over the films wrote me an email that said, 'Holy f-ck.' And I said, 'Well, where are the notes?' And she said, 'Those are the notes.' Because it kind of goes nuts in a good way, right?"

What the Film is About

"Avatar 3" will not only continue the narrative of "The Way of Water," but will also introduce a new Na'vi clan living in volcanoes - the People of Ashes."

When We Can Expect It

According to Cameron, Avatar 3 is still on schedule and will be released in cinemas on December 19, 2025.
