Neil Druckmann, co-creator of "The Last of Us," gave fans a glimpse of what to expect from the second season of the HBO series, and it looks like this season will be full of exclusive surprises.

Here's What We Know

Speaking to EW, the director mentioned that the series will use "at least one element" from "The Last of Us Part II" that was previously ruled out. However, he also emphasised that changes may occur during production to improve the adaptation of the series.

"As a tease, I will say there is at least one element from a cut level that is planned [for] the show. I say that with the caveat that we haven’t started filming the show yet and all things are subject to change based on what we ultimately feel will be best for the show." Druckmann said.

Series Overview

The series, based on the super popular video game, tells a story set in a post-apocalyptic world. It follows the vicissitudes of Joel, a survivor who takes on the task of escorting Ellie, a young teenager, through the harsh and dangerous ruins of society. The show delves into the development of their relationship as they face unimaginable challenges and meet ruthless adversaries while travelling through the abandoned landscapes of post-pandemic America.

Rumour has it that Kaitlyn Dever is in talks to play Abby, a character from the second part of the video game, in the upcoming season of The Last of Us. This role has already been attributed to a number of actresses, but none of them have been officially confirmed yet.

When We Can Expect It

With filming hasn't even started yet, it's scheduled for early 2024, there's no exact release date for the second season of the series yet.
