Hideo Kojima and Jordan Peele are co-developing a game called "OD" that promises to be a "new kind of media" at the intersection of gaming and film
At the Game Awards 2023, one of the most popular game designers, Hideo Kojima, together with actor and director of the films "Nope" and "Get Out" Jordan Peele, presented their completely unlike anything else - video game "OD", which they are developing together with Xbox Studios.
Here's What We Know
OD (short for Overdose) is a new era in gaming, and according to Kojima, it won't be "just a game." In fact, he claims it's something "that no one has seen before" - it's both a film and a new kind of media.
A trailer has already been presented for the game, which only served to confuse more than clarify what we're in for. Basically, the video features familiar faces talking and shouting on screen. However, the video itself doesn't tell us much about what OD is all about.
The faces on screen belong to Sophia Lillis from It, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Hunter Schaffer from Euphoria, and Udo Kier from Flesh for Frankenstein and Swan Song.
Jonathan Peele will act as one of the "storytellers" behind the stories behind the "OD" game
Plot Of The Game
The official description from studio Kojima Productions states, "explores the concept of testing your fear threshold, and what it means to OD on fear — while blurring the boundaries of gaming and film".
When We Can Expect It
A release date for the game has not been announced at this time.
