The director of the creepy "Terrifier" is set to expand the story and create a video game about Art Clown, as well as present a live-action horror house at Halloween Horror Nights
The Terrifier franchise continues to expand, and author Damien Leone is cooking up something beyond the films.
Here's What We Know
While audiences await the third instalment of the film about the terrifying and violent Art Clown in 2024, the franchise creator has expressed his hopes to create his sinister character a live-action horror house at Halloween Horror Nights (an annual event organised by Universal Studios theme parks in various locations around the world) and his own video game in the near future.
"Oh, I would love it, and that's a dream. I would love to have a house in Halloween Horror Nights. There's already been talks of it over the years, so hopefully that becomes a reality because, like you said, there's just so many cool environments, and now we're adding all these cool characters besides Art the Clown, these other creepy characters that you could really put in there, it could be a really cool experience. Also, I would love a video game. He would lend himself so well to a video game like that, you could be trapped in the warehouse surviving from the original Terrifier or you could be in the Terrifier haunted attraction from the end of Terrifier 2, it could be so much fun. It would be cool to be Sienna, too, I think to be this hero fighting Art the Clown decked out in this armor, it'd be cool for the victim and the villain, it would be a great game, and there's interest there too, so hopefully those happen in the near future."
It looks like Leone's dreams could very well become a reality, considering Terrifier was one of the most unexpected surprises of the last decade. Since the release of the sequel in 2022, the story of Art Clown has become legendary, and seemingly addictive, as it has led to repeat showings of the film in cinemas, the production of a third part with a bigger budget and endless potential for expansion.
There is speculation that the secret to such success is that the film, with its brutality, always seems to go a little overboard. And given the killing of children and the torture of women, it sometimes goes even too far.
But that's where Terrifier differs from many major studio offerings in the horror genre - the film is independent and doesn't face so many limitations.
When We Can Expect It
Terrifier 3 is scheduled for release on October 25, 2024.
