Shawn Levy shares an update on 'Deadpool 3': how the cast strike affected the film
The director of the third instalment of Deadpool, Shawn Levy, has revealed why the cast and writer's strike helped the film.
Here's What We Know
Deadpool 3 is the only major premiere that Marvel Studios will be releasing in 2024. Filming on the film, like most other projects, was halted for nearly half a year due to strikes in Hollywood until things moved again last month.
And while many are unhappy with the disrupted schedules and rescheduled dates, Shawn Levy believes that the pause may have even played into Deadpool 3's hands, allowing him and the franchise's main star Ryan Reynolds to "learn and think" about the story.
"We're happily back at work, and now that we know it's coming out next summer, we are working our asses off to make the best movie possible, and it's feeling good" - Levy explained, adding: "It does feel like we're back at it freshly and more deeply informed about what this movie wants to be."
Here's What The Movie Is About
Nothing is still known about the plot of the third instalment of Deadpool, but more information has emerged about the cast.
The cast includes Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson/Deadpool, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlyle, Leslie Uggams as Blind Elle, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Stefan Kapičić as Peter Rasputin/Colossus, and Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen in as yet unknown roles. Jennifer Garner will return in the role of Elektra.
When We Can Expect It
Deadpool 3 is scheduled to premiere on July 26, 2024.
