"Wonka" has conquered the box office, overtaking "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom"
'Wonka' film overtakes 'Aquaman 2' at the box office on the day after Christmas.
Here's What We Know
New figures show the film about a chocolatier starring Timothee Chalamet tops the box office with $8.9 million. "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" came in second place with $8.3 million.
While the "Wonka" triumph is being hotly debated on social media, Chalamet admitted that he wasn't sure if he could pull off a decent performance as Wonka. Especially, it was about the performance of the songs.
The actress who played Noodley in the musical, Calah Lane, previously shared with Variety how she managed to convince Chalamet to take part in all the songs required for the film. Lane revealed that she sat Shalame down and made him re-listen to the songs as he performed them until he was convinced they sounded great.
As for Aquaman 2, the film is believed to be a fitting conclusion for the DCEU before the larger DC franchise is relaunched under new DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran.
