Dominic Toretto's Last Ride: Vin Diesel got a budget cut on "Fast 11" and Momoa may not be back for the final race
It seems that Universal is no longer betting much on the multi-million dollar box office success of "Fast 11" and therefore cut the budget for the Vin Diesel film almost in half.
Here's What We Know
Insider Jeff Sneider reports that the eleventh "Fast" will be returned "to the roots", which means that instead of a new round-the-world adventure for the Toretto family we will be returned to the good old crime race with a couple of robberies. That said, the same source claims that Dominic Toretto's adventures should now gross "$200 million or less," compared to the $340 million allocated to "Fast X," which grossed only $714.6 million worldwide and barely broke even.
It's also likely that the final instalment of "Fast" may opt for a new villain instead of the return of Jason Momoa's Dante Reyes character. This is despite the fact that "Fast X" ended with Dante setting a trap for Toretto and his son. All the more interesting how this will be played out in the eleventh instalment.
Note that in addition to "Fast 11," Universal has announced another film in the franchise that promises the return of Dwayne Johnson. This film will not be considered "Fast 12", but rather a separate project that will act as a bridge between "Fast X" and "Fast 11".
When We Can Expect It
"Fast 11" has not yet been given an exact release date.
