Return of the Winter Soldier: Sebastian Stan can't wait to return to the Thunderbolts in the MCU
Actor Sebastian Stan has shared his excitement about the opportunity to return to his role as the Winter Soldier and join the Thunderbolts in combat.
Here's What We Know
In an interview with Variety, Stan admitted that he missed working on the project:
“I’m excited. I’m going to go back basically in a month or so. I’ve missed it. It’s a great cast. The batting average is so high that it’s difficult to always land everything right away. It’s always been a great experience. With this one in particular, I think there’s a lot of good things."
Speaking about "success statistics", the actor touched on the recent box office failures and criticism of the franchise. He explained that because of the high "average" it's becoming increasingly difficult to "hit the target all at once."
The project has been in development since 2022, with the start of filming scheduled to begin last year, which was put on hold due to strikes by writers and actors. Filming is set to begin in the spring, and Thunderbolts, originally planned as part of Phase Five of the Marvel Universe, is now becoming part of Phase Six.
Here's What The Movie Is About
"Thunderbolts" will tell the story of a group of heroes and anti-heroes who are usually tasked with much deadlier and more dangerous missions than the Avengers.
It is now hotly rumoured that we will see the group battle Sentry, Marvel's version of Superman, an all-powerful superhero who suffers from dissociative identity disorder and has two souls living in his head: one is the benevolent superhero Sentry and the other is the hostile supervillain Void.
The cast will include Hannah John-Kamen, Wyatt Russell, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Florence Pugh, David Harbour and Olga Kurylenko.
When We Can Expect It
"Thunderbolts", directed by Jake Schreier, is scheduled for a July 25, 2025 release.
