"Avatar: The Last Airbender" from Netflix is returning to screens and promises to bring a new take on the classic Nickelodeon cartoon. The creator of the project, Albert Kim, has assured that the new live-action version will not only feature iconic moments expected by fans, but also new episodes with Fire Nation, which were not in the original animated version.

Here's What We Know

While Kim doesn't reveal many details about how much exclusive material with Fire Nation we'll see in the new Avatar, he clearly emphasised one important point, demonstrating their significance: "The original series never shows the Fire Nation attacking the Southern Air Temple, and that's something we do see in our version."

The Southern Air Temple remains in viewers' memories as one of the standout locations from the original series, as Aang doesn't encounter its destruction until long after the tragedy.

Unlike the original series, which focused on Aang's reaction to the events without showing the destruction itself, Netflix's new series will apparently use this moment to highlight the genocide of the Air Nation.

When We Can Expect It

"Avatar: The Last Airbender" comes out on Netflix on February 22.
