The X-Files' Gillian Anderson joins Jared Leto in the third instalment of the sci-fi film Tron
The actress best known for her role as Agent Scully from "The X-Files," Gillian Anderson, is joining the cast of "Tron: Ares" in a mysterious role.
Here's What We Know
It's not just Anderson's role that remains a mystery, but almost all details about the film as well. All we know is that Jared Leto will play the role of Ares, a fictional character who transitions from the world of video games to Earth. He will also be a producer on the project.
In addition to Leto and Anderson, the film's cast also includes American Horror Story's Evan Peters, Past Lives' Greta Lee, Queen & Slim's Jodie Turner-Smith, Shameless' Cameron Monaghan and Yellowjackets' Sarah Desjardins. However, their characters are also yet to be revealed.
The original Tron film, released in 1982, starred Jeff Bridges, who returned in the 2010 sequel "Tron: Legacy". It is reported that the actor will not return in the third instalment.
Here's What The Movie Is About
The original story tells of programmer and video game developer Kevin Flynn, who was working on a new project called "Tron," which was supposed to be the beginning of a new era in the world of computer games. But one day Flynn disappears without a trace and finds himself inside a programming code from which he has to get out.
