The Boys is renewed for a fifth season, with filming set to begin in the spring
According to Hollywood North Buzz, the series "The Boys" has been renewed for a fifth season even before the fourth season premieres later this year.
Here's What We Know
While there has been no public confirmation yet, a Canadian website dedicated to tracking filming is reporting that filming for the fifth season of "The Boys" will begin in the spring. They will take place in and around Toronto from 8 April 2024 to 22 August 2024.
Back in 2020, the series' creator, Eric Kripke, stated his intention to create five seasons of "The Boys" as he had enough material.
However, Kripke changed his mind after the success of the first spin-off "Gen V."
"I have since realized that literally no one in history is worse at predicting the amount of seasons of a show, like literally. I have learned my lesson and I've stopped predicting how many seasons these shows go. You will find out in hindsight."
"Between 'The Boys' and 'Gen V' series, Prime Video intends to create its own little superhero universe that could possibly compete with giants like the Marvel and DC film universes due to its simplicity:
"We try to keep the timeline super simple because all that folding-in-on-itself timeline stuff that I think other comic book universes find themselves having to do is just bewildering for me as a viewer. So it's all very modular. It's like there's Season 3 of The Boys, and then after that Gen V takes place, and then after that The Boys Season 4 takes place. And then after that, Gen V Season 2 takes place. It's all more like cars on a train than it is a plate of spaghetti." Kripke stated.
