Nine years after the official announcement of the film based on the popular video game "Borderlands", we have finally been shown the first footage from the upcoming film.

Here's What We've Seen

Thanks to People, we can see most of the key characters from the world of Pandora in the exclusive images. But the most colourful of them, of course, is the infamous red-haired criminal Lilith, played by Cate Blanchett.

Fans have noted that Blanchett's image is exactly like the heroine from the game.

In another image, among the peeks at the hatch, you can make out the cast including the soldier Roland played by Kevin Hart, Dr Tannis played by Jamie Lee Curtis, Tiny Tina played by Ariana Greenblatt and the robot joker Claptrap played by Jack Black.

This footage is, indeed, highly anticipated. Although filming was completed over two years ago and footage from the set was shown at CinemaCon in 2022, "Deadpool" director Tim Miller was invited to finalise scenes in early 2023. Since then, until the release of the footage you saw above, there has been mostly silence surrounding the project.

Here's What The Movie Is About

"Borderlands" is an adaptation of the video game series of the same name from Gearbox, set on the fictional planet of Pandora. Lilith, a criminal with a mysterious past, returns to her home planet, Pandora, to find the missing daughter of Atlas, also known as "the most powerful bastard in the universe." Lilith teams up with unexpected allies - Roland, a former elite mercenary now desperate for redemption, Tiny Tina - a teenage bomber, Krieg - Tina's protector, Dr Patricia Tannis and Tin Man - a ridiculous robot.

These amazing heroes must face alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect a missing girl who holds the key to unimaginable power. The fate of the universe may depend on them, but they will fight for something deeper: each other.

When We Can Expect It

"Borderlands" is set for release on August 9, 2024.
