According to the latest reports, James Gunn and DC Studios will begin filming Superman: Legacy next week (February 26 to March 1).

Here's What We Know

"Superman: Legacy" needs to begin production as soon as possible, as the film is scheduled to premiere next summer. Given the need for extensive visual effects work, principal photography should be completed within six months to leave enough time for all the necessary additional filming as well as post-production.

In addition to announcing the upcoming start of filming, Gunn posted a photo on Instagram with the crew gathered at the studio. Fans got their first glimpse of what Lex Luthor, played by Nicholas Hoult, will look like.

Here's What The Movie Is About

According to DC Studios, "Superman: Legacy" will tell the story of Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian origins with his human upbringing in his hometown of Smallville, Kansas. It will reflect the idea of truth, justice and the pursuit of a better future, guided by human kindness, in a world where kindness is seen as something outdated.

"Superman: Legacy" will be directed by Gunn and will be the first film in their reboot of the DC universe.

When We Can Expect It

"Superman: Legacy" is expected to hit theatres on July 11, 2025.
