Disney Studios presents the official synopsis for TRON: Ares and offers a look at Jared Leto as Ares.

Here's What We Know

TRON 3 - is the sequel to the 1982 cult film TRON and its 2010 sequel TRON: Legacy. Director Joachim Rønning, known for Disney's Kon-Tiki and "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, took over the project after Joseph Kosinski, the creator of "TRON: Legacy.

In a statement, he said that the third instalment of the franchise continues and builds on the cutting-edge technology and plot moves established by the original film 40 years ago.

Here's What The Movie Is About

According to the official synopsis:

TRON: Ares follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind's first encounter with A.I. beings."

The lead actor, Oscar-winning Jared Leto, shared on social media the first photo of his character in a black and red Tron costume with a gun on his right hip:

"ARE YOU READY?? TRON: ARES 2025" - A signed shot that helped reveal the film's release window.

In addition to Leto, the film stars Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, and Gillian Anderson.

When We Can Expect It

TRON: Ares is scheduled to premiere in 2025.
