Ten years later, death returns: Filming has started on "Final Destination 6", which has a new title
The sequel to the iconic Final Destination franchise, which has been in preparation for years, has finally begun filming on its sixth instalment. Confirmation of this long-awaited moment came from producer Craig Perry.
Here's What We Know
Perry also revealed that the upcoming film is titled Final Destination: Bloodlines. Yes, yes, everyone remembers about the recent horror film with a similar title "Pet Sematary: Bloodlines", but the producer admitted that the subtitle "Bloodlines" was planned long before the release of "Pet Sematary", so it will remain.
As for a release date, the ubiquitous death film has not yet been given a release date, though it is expected to premiere next year.
On social media, Perry thanked the team for their hard work and shared his excitement about the franchise's imminent return to cinema screens, especially in IMAX:
"After a long, hard slog through the pandemic and the strikes, Day One is finally in the can. 2025 will mark the 25th anniversary of the release of the first installment in the franchise. To honor the occasion with another worldwide theatrical release (in IMAX, no less) is a rare and wonderful thing. I'm wholly grateful for the opportunity, and humbly appreciate the sublimely talented team that has worked so hard to bring this to life. See you next year! P.S. I know, I know -- Pet Sematary: Bloodlines. But this is the title we've had for three years, and we're keeping it... for now."
Although filming has begun, there is no word on the cast yet. Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein are set to direct.
There is little information about the film yet, but according to series creator Jeffrey Reddick, the project will be different from the previous films and will bring fresh ideas to the franchise:
"I will say that it's not just going to be another kind of 'we set up a group of people, they cheat death, and then just death gets them.' And there's one wrinkle that we kind of added to every movie to kind of like change it up a little bit: this one is... a true Final Destination movie, but it doesn't follow that kind of formula that we've kind of established... I think I can say that much".
