The thriller "The Accountant" with Ben Affleck returns with a sequel after eight years
Finally, after years of anticipation, the 2016 thriller The Accountant is getting a sequel.
Here's What We Know
According to The Hollywood Reporter, casting for the sequel is currently underway. It is already known that several actors from the original film will be returning, including J.K. Simmons from Spider-Man, Jon Bernthal from The Punisher and Shooter's Cynthia Addai-Robinson, as well as lead actor Ben Affleck.
There is still little information about the plot of the second part and the film's release date is still unknown, but with the original cast returning, we can assume that "Accountant 2" will be a continuation of the story that ended in the first part.
In addition to the return of the cast, the project has also come under the wing of Amazon MGM Studios after previously being in development at Warner Bros, just like the original film. The reasons for this move have not been explained, but since the sequel was announced in 2017, we can only hope that the partnership with Amazon will speed up the production process.
"The Accountant" has caused a lot of controversy between critics and audiences in its time. The former gave the film a 56% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while viewers gave it a 76% rating.
Here's What The Movie Is About
The first film is about a corrupt accountant, Christian Wolff (Affleck), who handles the financial affairs of various illegal companies by skilfully manipulating their documents. One day his activities attract the attention of the FBI, and to cover his tracks, he starts working with a legitimate client to confuse the investigators. However, this leads to him being drawn into a criminal network that spirals out of his control.
