Dune: Part Two has been showing in cinemas for 6 weeks now. Some cinemas will soon stop showing the film altogether. As of 1 April, the sequel to Dune had grossed $626 million, and what is the situation now?
Here's What We Know
Last week, the film grossed another $36 million - $12 million in North America and $22 million worldwide. So now the total gross is $660 million.
Also, Dune: Part Two overtook Part One, which grossed $434 million. However, it is important to clarify that from the day of the premiere, the first part was available on the HBO Max streaming service, which affected the purchase of tickets in cinemas.
The film cost $190 million to produce and another $100 million was spent on its promotion. Despite the high price, the film retained the popularity necessary to justify these costs and make a profit.
