On October 12 at the Ignite conference, Microsoft director Satya Nadella showed the concept of a floating taskbar in Windows 11. The unusual taskbar was noticed by Twitter users, docks with applications and widgets appeared at the top of the desktop.

Here's What We Know

The panel was shown to us on the Surface Studio device. We can assume that this is a form of concept that the company is going to implement for sessional devices. The company is already moving toward implementing this concept in its new Surface Studio 2 Plus, where the taskbar icons change size as you move the display.

Interestingly, some Windows Insider testers reported a more rounded Windows 11 taskbar back in August, but Microsoft then cited a bug that could change the system's interface, and it was fixed with the next versions.
