Microsoft is preparing for a series of cyberattacks from Russia this winter and is warning others to remain vigilant.

"Moscow has stepped up its multifaceted, hybrid technology approach to pressure Kyiv's sources of military and political support," the company said in its latest blog, "Recent attacks in Poland suggest that Russian-sponsored cyberattacks may increasingly be used beyond Ukraine to disrupt supply chains abroad."

The company considers the main source of danger to be the Russian group IRIDIUM, which has existed for more than 10 years and actively cooperates with the Russian intelligence service. As Microsoft notes: "Following Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014, IRIDIUM launched a series of winter operations against Ukrainian electricity suppliers, cutting off power to hundreds of thousands of citizens in 2015 and 2016."

Microsoft will continue to actively work with its customers throughout the winter of 2023 to "Detect, Protect, and Deter."
