Microsoft has introduced a new package for its Microsoft 365 subscriptions - Microsoft 365 Basic. For $1.99 you get 100 GB of OneDrive storage with some additional features that fall between the free option and the $6.99/month personal subscription.

The subscription will be available worldwide starting January 30th and will offer users 100GB of OneDrive cloud storage with an ad-free Outlook web interface and advanced security features (such as virus scanning of links and attachments). Existing OneDrive customers with 100GB of storage will be automatically upgraded to Microsoft 365 Basic for the same monthly price of $1.99.

“Later this year, we’ll have a bunch of stuff with OneDrive advanced security that will be available as well, that includes Personal Vault, password-protected and expiring links, ransomware detection and recovery, and bulk file restore,” says Gareth Oystryk, director of product marketing for Microsoft 365, in an interview with The Verge."

In addition to the above features, the subscription will also include access to Microsoft technical support via phone or chat for Microsoft 365 and Windows 11.
