Microsoft is launching a payment system inside Teams so that small businesses can earn money from meetings, one-on-one sessions, webinars, and more. The feature is currently available to business users in the US and Canada - they can collect payments during a meeting, opening up the service to financial advisors, lawyers, instructors, tutors, and other small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to collect payments for virtual meetings.

"The pandemic changed the game, - says Brenna Robinson, general manager of Microsoft 365 small and medium business, - “I think a lot of the SMBs have now pivoted where they're now more tech savvy and they're not just corner shops"

Microsoft has partnered with GoDaddy, PayPal, and Stripe to make the feature possible, and most importantly, free. The Microsoft Teams payment app can track money received or any outstanding funds during a meeting, and customers can pay at any time during the meeting. Stripe and PayPal integration is available today as part of the public preview, with GoDaddy payments coming soon.
