During the presentation of Apple's Vision Pro mixed reality headset, many people probably wondered about the availability of software for it, but that's all right. The Vision Pro will support thousands of iOS and iPadOS apps, as well as a bunch of native apps from other developers, such as Excel, Word, and Microsoft's Teams, which were even demonstrated during the presentation.

Here's What We Know

Apple briefly demonstrated Excel, Word, and Teams running in the Vision Pro headset, with a user interface that can be controlled by the eyes. Microsoft seems to be using a similar simplified ribbon interface that is available in its existing web-based Excel and Word.

Although the Cupertino company didn't show much of the interface for Teams, it did say that Microsoft will support their three-dimensional digital characters, which will be created using machine learning techniques to virtually recreate the user's face. Zoom and Webex will also support these 3D characters.

In addition to Microsoft support, Apple's Vision Pro headset will also run Unity applications, which means we can expect a large number of games. Unity support will be available early next year. In addition, Adobe will add Lightroom, which will allow users to control photo editing with their eyes and hands.
