Microsoft is removing Teams integration in Windows 11 - it will be replaced by a full-fledged app
Microsoft is gradually preparing to remove the built-in Teams client in Windows 11: the company announced the integration almost two years ago, but in a new test build of the operating system, it announced that a full-fledged standalone Teams app with much more functionality and convenience will be added to the system instead.
Here's What We Know
The original Teams integration in Windows 11, called Chat, was deeply embedded in the operating system. Chat was pinned to the taskbar by default, and you had to go deep into settings to remove it. Chat gave consumers the ability to use Microsoft Teams to communicate with friends and family.
However, this feature was limited to consumers only, making it useless for most users of the desktop version of Microsoft Teams. Additionally, Windows 11 users could have two separate versions of Teams to handle work and personal calls, which created some confusion.
