Northrop Grumman is moving forward with work on a new missile interceptor. The development is taking place under the Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) programme.

Here's What We Know

The company announced the successful creation of solid rocket motor casings for the Next Generation Interceptor missile. They will now be shipped to a US Army military base in Alabama. At Redstone Arsenal, experts will integrate the casings into the interceptor and move on to a new phase of testing.

NGI is a programme of the United States Missile Defence Agency. The goal is to create interceptors capable of defending the territory of the United States from enemy intercontinental ballistic missiles.

Lockheed Martin is involved in the project. It recently reported the successful verification of the missile elements and began preparations for a new stage of testing. The Missile Defence Agency intends to purchase 20 interceptors starting in 2027.
