Here's What We Know
According to Oryx, the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed almost 700 T-72B3 tanks in different modifications. The published video shows a burning combat vehicle. It is reported that the tank was hit by FPV drones and artillery in the Luhansk region. At the same time, there is no footage of the attack itself.
The T-72B3 is a modification of the Soviet T-72 tank and is the main battle tank of this family. The T-72B3 version was developed as a cheaper alternative to the T-90A tank. The cost of upgrading the first combat vehicles was approximately $1 million per unit.
The main battle tank is equipped with a 2A46M-5 125 mm gun, as well as machine guns of 12.7 mm and 7.62 mm calibre. The power plant is represented by an engine with a minimum output of 840 horsepower (differs depending on the year of modernisation).
According to open sources, there are a total of about 1,000 T-72B3 tanks in various modifications in service with the land, airborne and coastal forces.
