The Ukrainian Defence Forces have been using SHARK unmanned aerial systems since 2022. The drone recently helped destroy five components of the Russian Buk surface-to-air missile system at once.

Here's What We Know

The launchers, a radar station and a transport and charging vehicle were hit. The model of the Buk surface-to-air missile system has not been established. The Russians are using different versions, including the latest Buk-M3.

The M142 HIMARS high-mobility artillery rocket system or the M270 MLRS multiple rocket launcher system were probably used in the strike. Both use high-precision GMLRS projectiles with a launch range of up to 80 kilometres. The anti-aircraft missile system components were destroyed in Zaporizhzhya region at a distance of about 25 kilometres from the front line.

The SHARK drone, donated by the Come Back Alive foundation for competent assistance to the army, was used to adjust the fire. In total, the organisation handed over 22 unmanned aerial systems to the Ukrainian Defence Forces. Each includes two drones.
