An examination of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III's code reveals that the new game is technically identical to the 2022 shooter and is essentially DLC for it
Long before the announcement of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III (2023), it was reported that the game was originally developed as an add-on for the previous part.
And although Activision later began to position the shooter as an independent full-fledged game, there are still reasons to consider MW3 as a supplement to the game in 2022.
Here's What We Know
Insider Gaming portal and Playstation Game Size team studied the code of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and came to the conclusion that from the technical point of view the game is identical to Modern Warfare II: the beta version of the new game uses the same codes and concept ID.
Similarities can be seen in many other aspects of the game. Probably, the lack of significant differences is not only a consequence of the developers' haste, but also a way to simplify and reduce the cost of creating the Call of Duty Hub platform, which is mentioned in the Insider Gaming article.
In the article Tom Henderson said that in this way Activision plans to combine Modern Warfare 3, Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Warzone 2 in one menu. The possibility of transferring in-game items from one shooter to another is an indirect confirmation of these intentions. And the developers themselves mentioned about such a concept of Call of Duty franchise development.
When We Can Expect It
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is scheduled for release on the 10th of November.
Full presentation of Modern Warfare 3 will take place on the 17th of August.
