Tomorrow will see the release of Gord strategy game from Polish studio Covenant.dev, founded by former employees of CD Projekt RED.

Here's What We Know

Gord is a game in the setting of Slavic mythology, which takes place in a swampy area inhabited by creepy monsters.

The debut project of Covenant.dev studio has already been tested by critics and, unfortunately for the developers, the evaluations were very low.

So, on Metacritic the version of Gord for PC is rated only 58 points, while the version for PlayStation 5 got 75. Probably, such a big difference in scores is due to technical problems of the game on personal computers.

On Opencritic, Slavic Strategy received 66 points with 58% of recommendations.

Critics noted that Gord is the case when the idea is great, but its realisation leaves much to be desired. The Slavic fantasy setting has a lot of potential and is liked by the public, but the developers did not reveal this theme enough.

Gord's gameplay is compared to The Settlers and Frostpunk, but the comparison is not in favour of the new game. It was called boring, monotonous and artificially prolonged, although there are some interesting elements in it.

In addition, some reviewers noted that some aspects of Gord, for example, sacrifices to pagan gods, are too naturalistic and may repel impressionable people.

Hopefully, gamers will greet Gord more favourably than the critics.

When We Can Expect It

Gord will be released on 17th August on PC (Steam, GOG), Xbox Series and PS5.
