Head of development of shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl Evgen Grygorovych gave an interview to IGN portal at gamescom 2023.

Here's What We Know

In the conversation Evgen Grygorovych focused on three important aspects.

  1. The war in Ukraine has greatly complicated the already delayed development of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. 2. After the invasion of Russia, the main task of the company was not to work on the game, but to ensure the safety of employees and relocation of GSC Game World office in Prague. Only after that the work on the game continued.
  2. The development team strives to convey the Chernobyl zone as realistically as possible and demonstrate that this is not just a computer game location, but a place where a real technological disaster occurred.
  3. Grigorovich urged gamers not to perceive Heart of Chornobyl as a militaristic shooter, because the main task of the heroes is to survive in extremely difficult conditions and get valuable artefacts. Yes, there will be a lot of shooting, but these are local conflicts of small groups.

The developer also presented previously unpublished footage of the game. The trip through the night Chernobyl looks atmospheric and incredibly technological.

It is already known that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl will not be released in 2023, its release is scheduled for the first quarter of 2024. This will probably be officially announced at the Xbox show today.
