The third instalment of the popular horror-platformer series Little Nightmares was announced at the opening ceremony of gamescom 2023. Supermassive Games, the creator of The Dark Pictures Anthology and The Quarry, is developing the game.

During the exhibition Supermassive producer Coralie Feniello revealed some details of the game.

Here's What We Know

According to her, the idea to make Little Nightmares 3 a co-operative game came after the developers of the last instalment received a lot of requests from players to add a co-op mode to the 2021 game, as there were two main characters. This failed to materialise in Little Nightmares 2, but the game designers liked the idea and built the concept of the new part around co-operative play.

Little Nightmares 3 features two small protagonists, Low and Alone. Both of them have unique abilities and items, but only by working together they can reach their goal. In this respect the game is similar to It Takes Two.

The fact that you don't have to buy two copies of Little Nightmares 3 to play the game reminds you of Josef Fares' famous project, you just need to buy one copy and share it with a partner. Note that the game can be played in single player mode with a virtual partner.

New developers are trying to keep the atmosphere and unique style of the series, laid by Tarsier studio, while trying to refresh the series with new ideas.

Events of Little Nightmares 3 will take place in new locations, and to understand the plot you don't have to be familiar with the previous parts.

When We Can Expect It

Little Nightmares III is expected to release in 2024 on PC (Steam), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch.
