GSD analytical data: Starfield became the fastest-selling new IP game and the fifth fastest-selling game overall in 2023

GamesIndustry.biz portal shared GSD analytical data that shows how well Starfield has sold in European countries.

Here's What We Know

Starfield was the number one game in terms of copies sold in the first week since its full release (6 September). Starfield became the fastest-selling new IP game and the fifth fastest-selling game of the year overall. Bethesda's game managed to overtake Final Fantasy 16 and Resident Evil 4. However, it has not yet managed to surpass the sales of Hogwarts Legacy, Diablo IV, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

However, they did not take into account the Game Pass service and the fact that the owners of the Starfiled premium edition started their playthrough on 1 September.

GSD also noted that Starfield almost overtook Forza Horizon 5 as the "biggest" Xbox game of this generation in Europe.

Finally, the portal published two ratings: the best-selling games of the past week (4-10 September) and the best-selling games of the first week of their release. In the first ranking, it is worth noting that a huge discount on Titanfall 2 and Need for Speed games helped the projects return to the ranking, although they have not been here for a long time. However, for some reason, GSD does not have data on Baldur's Gate 3, so this game is not mentioned.
