The Game Portal has reported that the next game of Bungie, the creators of the Destiny shooters, is being developed on the Unreal Engine 5.

Here's What We Know

Back in August of this year, the studio posted on Twitter that in its "incubation" department, where they experiment with various games, their favourite was a team action game based on several genres in a completely new sci-fi universe. The project draws inspiration from fighting games, platformers, MOBAs, life simulators and "frog-type games" (but it's not clear what the latter means), wrapped in a lighthearted comedy world.

The Game Portal also reported that the developers are working on a project codenamed "Gummy Bears", which could be the same game the developers mentioned on Twitter.

The rumours that are circulating suggest that Bungie is using the Unreal Engine 5 engine for development. Although before that, the developers used their own Tiger Engine.

The Game Portal's sources also note that it will be a PvP team game with "colourful" characters and isometric gameplay. The project is described as something "completely different" from previous Bungie games.

However, it is unlikely that Bungie will officially give more details about its upcoming games except for the Marathon shooter, which it is actively working on. Therefore, we take everything else as rumours and nothing more.

Flashback

In February 2022, Sony acquired Bungie for $3.6 billion.
